OK then, but who
does take overall responsibility (in the "manufacturer" sense) for a complete system made up of a number of distinct items of equipment?
Two examples that spring to mind are "theatre stacks" and (of course) transport incubators.
I am sure that many of us have encountered "lash-ups" of these ... especially the second example mentioned.
