I do not know why you are so concerned, the white paper says this
X-Cal is seamlessly integrated into Masimo sensors, cables and circuit boards and is provided at no additional cost to end users.
If it is there in black and white it must be true.
(End of sarcasm)
Try holding them to this and see what they say.
Surely any "improvement" is just there to increase sales and increased sales means someone has to be paying
