Do you mean asset management only, Sajeev, or maintenance management? Personally, I would regard asset management as a sub-set of any decent computerized maintenance management system.

If you are thinking of setting up a CMMS from scratch, my advice would be to think in terms of the “paper-less system”. Go down the PDA route, linked to test equipment whenever possible.

Some of us like to write our own software. That way, not only is it cheaper and intellectually rewarding, but you also retain absolute control and can maintain and develop it easily. Otherwise, there are quite a few packages available. Don’t forget to check-out the ones coming from the USA (many of which, I would have to say, appear excellent to me). smile
