Hi Mammad. Its a problem due to the variation in how much the parts/spares cost and also the lifetime of the item. Consumables are generally single use, but you can also argue that some items are used more than once. You can use single use SP02 probes and these are used mainly in neonatal care and Pediatric, but also a probe that lasts for several years. It also depends if a department is being charged per item issued by the technicians. My opinion is a part is replacement item that is on or inside a device and not the patient.
We use light sources that we know will need to have a new lamp at some point throughout the year, but is this a part or consumable? Maybe look at setting a cost limit for the problematic items?
