My experience with Medela is to first establish whether or not you can hold any parts. Their old breast pump used to have the serial number etched on the top cover which was the part that always broke and you could only order a new one by supplying the serial number for them to etch. It was a daft way to do things and the serial number was not needed in the grand scheme of things. Chances are you will also be going through a UK Distributor rather than dealing directly with Medela for anything.
I have dealt with Ardo and found them to be very reliable products and good customer service in the rare times i have needed something from them.
