Which type of machine have you in mind, and for what purpose and destination, I wonder? If you are hoping to buy what was once a fixed installation, for example, how can you be sure that it’s any good? At least a mobile unit could be run up (ie, demonstrated). I see many semi-wrecks in UK hospitals (…talking about the mobiles, not the biomeds)! If you are thinking of shipping a unit overseas, better get someone else to front the money (especially, as, in my experience, it may never actually work again). Beware, Mate, x-ray machines can be an expensive business! Again, in my experience, used x-ray equipment generally means knackered! You may be better off thinking in terms of a new machine from India, Korea or China. The technology may not be the lastest, but they will bung out the magic rays!

I would agree with Geoff, radiology equipment get used until they are no longer any use. They get bashed (particularly the head) and a single part can run into thousands not to mention regular QA and dose measurements so Radiation Protection expertise is required.

what sort of x-ray machine do you require and what is your budget?

We at Assetco.com (Healthcare) do get ex-lease equipment returned to us we only have top quality Ultrasounds at the moment. However, the likes of Severn x-ray, Jet x-ray may have what you require, or Colco or similar

If you are looking for a used CT (or MRI) unit, let me know as I have a contact here who will sell you (for a price) what should be good-value units i.e in actual life-time working hours the the machines may well not be old (very likely under 10-years of use) but you will have to have it all sent from Saudi Arabia and may well need the necessary technical documentation for reassembly, though if the dismantlers of the equipment did their work well, it will already have all the parts and the necessary documentation with it from our hospital. My contact will more than likely be able to supply quite a lot of other used med. equipment as well, but remember, "you pay your money and take your chance" . Knowing you are based in London you will probably not be interested either in the fact that I would have a complete Toshiba X-Ray unit model KXO-1050 here in Riyadh available for sale to you after some time in the near future . This is working and only needs reconnecting up. However, the table itself weighs-in at around 3000 kgs and this would cost to ship. - Nick
