Having recently taken over responsibility for patient hoists (for my sins), I am gathering info on requirements - can anyone advise what the requirements are as regards servicing and insurance inspections?

Many thanks
confused

Apollo,
Our purchasing department say ARJO have the national contract for hoists etc. so are easy to deal with - no tendering etc - and give a decent price because of this. So we have all ours on contract as some of the work needs a certificate to do it.
Beware of LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998). Everything thats primary function is to lift comes under these regs. If it lifts a person it needs twice yearly checking by a properly accredited body. i.e. not in house hence the contract.

My spelling is not bad. I am typing this on a Medigenic keyboard and I blame that for all my typos.

I'd agree with that - Arjo offer a reasonably priced service because of the national contract and it's much safer to let them do it because of all the red tape and litigation !

It's probably cheaper in the long run and you don't have an injured patient to worry about, which is even more important !

Today is the day you worried about yesterday - and all is well !
