Our Trust will soon be imposing car parking charges. The amount you pay depends on your salary. MTO 3 will pay £70.00. What is your Trust's policy on car parking charges?
Does your trust have free parking?

Does the fee refer to all motor vehicles or, as in some places, motorbikes are exempt?

Sounds like a bargain (if your an MTO3 or lower)
this site charges everyone except for staff £1.00
per visit.
All staff regardless of grade / authority have the option to have £9.00 per calendar month taken from their salary and for this you get an access/departure card to the carparks, this however does not guarantee a space.
The only consession on charge to staff is if you are an member of an offical car share scheme then you get 1 pass free per the number of people you share with.
All the passes are barcoded and they only let cars in once until the same car is seen to leave. Therefore if you decide to let someone out who hasnt paid and is at the front of the exit queue the exit gate will not open for you because it sees that youve already departed.
Seems to work well and providing you work normal office hours you can usually get a space easily, the same however cant be said if you work lates or have to go out in your car at lunch and come back.
As space is limited and motor bikes / scooters are becoming more popular the fee is waived for them, but the site doesnt tolerate what it sees as illegal parking and bikes just like cars are removed.
Like you id be interested to see how much others get stung for.

You have a bargain there, our Trust has charged £130 pa for past few years. They now propose to charge 1.5% of our salary with a max payment of £400 pa. Therefore an MTO3 on say 25K would pay £375 pa. So your costs are not so bad really!!

Why do we have to pay at all, considering that other large organisations in our area (MOD) will not have to pay a single penny for parking.

I pay 30p a day.

Once I parked for 10 mins (whilst I dropped off some papers to John - on my day off) and got a nice yellow sticky envelope on my window, inviting me to contribute £25 to hospital funds.

Oh joy!

Surely it's not a parking charge, it is a charge to actively encourage people to use alternative forms of transport to commute to & from their place of work. Not only will this relieve the congestion on our already over-crowded roads, it might also encourage people to take more exercise by walking/cycling/running, etc. As a health provider, the NHS must set a standard for others to follow.

Take the initiative and look after your children's future!
