I am interested in whether hospitals regularly performs a calibration service on Aneroid Sphygmomanometer, and which department is normal responsible for carryout this service.

You can buy aneroid sphygs with 3 year plus warranties. With a cost of £40 to £100 it is probably cheaper to throw them away than fix them.

The poll showed that 1/2 of hospital check their gauges.
I agreed with your point John, that Aneroid gauges are now cheaper to purchase than provide a calibration service for. Manufactures may warrantee them for 3+ years, but that does not stop them from going out of calibration, partially thought physical damage.
Most hospital have PM schedules that cover the electronic VSM’s, but there are large numbers of Aneroid gauges in circulation that have never been checked.

Chilly, The 3 year warranty includes the gauge staying within tolerance, but i agree that this does not account for damage. We have adopted a policy of making users responsible for reporting damaged units to ebme. We can then decide wether to fix or scrap.
