Does anyone know of a cold light source used when trying to find blood vessels in childrens hands.
Ours are very out of date and failing and the companies do not exist any more - well they are British.
Are there any truely British medical cpmpanies left? Not just multinationals that have a base here.
Thanks
Robert

Don't Rimmer Brothers sell a cold light package anymore, they used to about 5 years ago when I last ordered one. Or what about the Datex Ohmeda Biliblanket with the transillumination function.

Good luck in your search Robert

We bought a cold light source for transillumination purposes for our PICU a few years back.

It was the 250 Maxilume manufactured by BFW. this was supplied by KGT Medical (tel: 01925 489815). I spoke with a Carl Elias there after we had a "burning" incident. He was helpful & knowledgeable. It turned out that the wrong end-piece had been attached which allowed some heat transfer.

Yes Rimmer Bothers do one - the neonate 100. Very good product.

It is better to be reactive than radioactive...

From memory, JohnBhoy may confirm this the Rimmer Bros product is specially designed for neonates in that the patient end cannot be disconnected from the light cable hence reducing the risk of burning. Also the connector joining the cable to the light source is non standard meaning that you cannot connect a standard surgical lightcable ensuring only a properly terminated neonatal can be used.

Another company is Natus, we recently replaced our cold light source due to the hazard notice issued by MHRA from them and have had no issues with it.

If you want to look at something very different try Inspiration as the UK agent 01162351010 for a Wee Sight (No Joke)Transilluminator manufactuered by Childrens Medical Ventures / Respironics
we use it on transport I dont know if it will meet your spec for Peads but it's worth trying. laugh

Another alternative is the Biliblanket plus from Datex-Ohmeda.
