We have just started trialing the T34 syringe driver in Portsmouth as a possible replacement for the Graseby MS26.
Has anyone else had experience with this device and would they be willing to share their findings?

After attending a presentation and looking at the McKinley T34 we`re hoping to replace our Graseby MS series with the T34, so I`d also be interested in any user comments. The product is fairly new so it may be a while before any trial information is available.

We have six production McKinley T34 Syringe Pumps and have started to undertake closely monitored clinical trials/evaluations.

The aim of the evaluations is to test the pumps in four NHS Greater Glasgow clinical areas and evaluate user feedback:

Community; LHCC Primary Care, South Glasgow

Hospice, North Glasgow

Oncology, Ward, West Glasgow

Gyn/Oncology,Ward, East Glasgow

User feedback will be evaluated via a locally modified MHRA proforma document.

Our results will be fed back to Teresa at Bath Institute hopefully for inclusion in their overall evaluation.

T34 is going well and overall opinion is that it is a well designed pump with plenty of safety features.
Only comment that we have had from Palliative Care is that they would prefer it to have a plastic cover to prevent syringe displacement, maybe the lockbox will solve this when we get some to look at.

Evening all,

Any updates on your views of this pump?

Anyone played with Zi Medical AD syringe pump yet?http://www.zi-medical.com/site_products/index.htm

I've been given 3 days to make a choice between these two pumps - year end and all that.

Cheers

As far as I'm aware Glasgow,Ayrshire and possibly Lanarkshire have or are going the T34 way. Perhaps guys from that locale can give some info?

We have been looking at the pump in the trust for a few months now. We are really happy with it from a technical POV and the program lock facility the pump has it practically makes it nurse proof!

We have also been looking at the Alaris AD, its no competition to the T34, they havent yet ironed out all the problems. The lockbox facility is too flimsy, no aspect of the pump is user friendly, in a technical or clinical aspect.

Up in Highland we have replaced all MS26 pumps with the T34. Only two faults so far, one screen fail and the other user induced. All users seem to like them.
