Hi,

Anyone else out there had problems obtaining parts for the Breasy section of the Cato / Cato Edition? We tried to order a part recently only to be told that is was now obsolete and we'd need to buy the whole thing.

The machine ceased production in February last year but this seems a bit soon for parts to be drying up. We currently have 19 of these machines many oof which are just over a year old.

further. anyone else had problems getting components parts for other draeger items?

What does the PPQ say about provision of parts after production have ceased. 7 years seems to be the usual response from manufacturers. Maybe you can use the PPQ and claim breach of contract if they can't supply parts during the period stated in the PPQ.

Weve got 12 of these beasts, various ages, Ive not experienced any problems yet but would like to here of any that are occuring elsewhere (the more we talk the better service we can provide).
Our ppq does stipulate parts for 7 years after end of production.

We have same stipulation in our PPQs.

Problem seems resolved for the time being after several lenghly discussions over the last 48 hours.

Have heard that Draeger are still selling these machines as they have some stock left and we are probably getting another 4 here!

Anyone got any of these machines that are 6 years old and what are you doing about the cylinder regs? We have been advised that we need to buy new ones but the price seems a bit steep.

Don't Drager run a large contract somewhere down near Manchester (Hope hospital ?)
How about you asking them if they have any trouble getting parts.

The Draeger machines at both Hope and Harrogate are looked after on a Drager service contract so the guy's on site don't actually touch the machines (they are not allowed to).
At Harrogate the engineer who looked after the Cato's didn't seem to have any problem getting spares

Only problem we have had getting spares up to now is the time taken. Even warranty repairs were taking up to a month, partly due to access problems but more often than not it was Draeger engineers waiting on parts.

Draegers policy of holding central stock in Germany may be good for them buts its not so good for the customer when it takes 10 days to get deliveries of stock items. We are now starting to order 2 of an item every time they break a part we havent changed before so we can turn machines round quicker next time.

So, to get this right Frank, there are Drager employed staff on site to do the "general" bulk equipment servicing (Just like a normal Ebme dept) and then on top of that they provide extra staff to do the 'Specialist' (if that's the word) type stuff under another contract.
Does that make sense ?
Or is this arrangement a business/comercial focused set-up?
I can understand training staff on different equipment at different times but would have thought that it benefits all concerned to have your on-site staff trained on as much kit as possible, which gives you added flexibility.

Of course the down side for a commercially focused organisation is that you may not wish to dilute 'time allowed' for certain work when you consider the revenue that, that time committment element generates in an agreed contract
i.e PROFIT.
Not quite the same focus for EBME depts especially when C.I.P's and efficiency targets mean year on year improvement goals !

With regards to the reg issue. Why not replace them with someone elses. They are after all outside of the machine connecyed via a hose to a nist fitting, which makes this easy.
As far as the delivery period is concerned I to have noticed that there is sometimes an extended delivery time on parts. But isnt that the same with all suppliers, does anyone no any supplier who is always spot on.

Have tried to obtain the regs from two other companies both of whom would not supply us regs with the necessary fittings to enable us to keep the fittings standard throughout the 19 machines we have.

Anyone found a way round this?
