The deadline for the vote is the 11th November, with the result on the 12th November.

I haven't received my voting form either, I contacted Amicus today and they said they are sending out the forms in stages and if you have not received the form by the 27th October then contact them on 0845 8504242.

I attended a Union meeting yesterday and was told that if Unison votes 'YES' its irrelevant what Amicus members vote as it will "more than likely" come in. Only if both Unison and Amicus vote 'NO' will it be rejected.

I dont know know which band I will be in either, the union rep's reply to this was work it out for yourself using the job evaluation procedure and if your honest you'll get the right result 9 times out of 10! Very encouraging isn't it!

The fact that Amicus are not recommending a 'YES' vote (apparently their members are intelligent enough to make up their own minds up) says it all to me, some of their members will lose out.

I can't believe that people are being asked to vote on something this important without ANY facts as how it will turn out.
Has anyone read the Amicus Unity Gazette Agenda for Change News.
Makes for VERY interesting reading.

It's not something you can teach. I am that damn good.

amicus is having a vote on afc, apparently everybody should have had a voting form and booklet explaining how good the afc is.No member I know at this hospital has received one. When I contacted my ever informative union I was told to call their office on 0845 850 4242 to request a voting form. When I asked how i can vote on afc when I don't where I will be graded? the answer was that they cannot wait for every post to be graded because it would take to long and the book will explain how fantastic afc is.

I was also informed that twgu had voted 70% in favour of afc,and unison vote would be known by 6th november

Personally I think it is pathetic when we have to ask for voting forms when amicus has no problem in sending out junk mail for frizzle insurance which to my knowledge is a crap deal anyway.

I was recently reading something written by a contempory of Pythagoras. Remember we are talking 2500years ago;

"These writings ..... show no indication of a more complete knowledge .... they talk much, write little, know less and conceal their ignorance under a series of mystical hints and promises."
"This uncertainty, shared by all students of the subject proves conclusively that it is unwise to make definite statements founded on the indefinite and fragmentary information available".

Sound familliar?

Richard,

I am also in Amicus. I received my ballot form and booklet through earlier this week and a colleague at work received his the day previously. Neither of us had to ask for these to be sent.

The enclosed booklet states that Amicus will not suggest to its members which way to vote and that they should make up their own minds having read examples of gradings already announced. Having read the booklet it is a much less biased view when compared to Unison. I agree tho that it's impossible to ask people to vote when we don't know the outcome.

At the end of the day the way people are going to vote will depend on how confident they feel with the job description they signed and how much backing they expect to get from their manager in event of an appeal if things go pear shaped.

I did send an email to Amicus asking about the voting form but as yet - no reply.

I received my voting form a week ago from Amicus...but the whole thing really sent me thinking. The AFC is not going to be decided by just by the people who are in the unions involved, but those who actually bother to vote. The TGWU make a big noise on their publicity on one of the hospital notice boards saying over 70% voted yes for AFC.It is only on close examination that the number that actually bothered to vote was just 30 odd % of the union. It all smacks of block votes...and everything being carried by the minority
What bothers me is the fact that within the NHS, there are far more people who do not belong to unions, yet their future is being definitely decided by the "few".So the ordinary worker who is not a member of a union is being penalised by this very fact.....and his or her rights in deciding and having a say in their future are really being withheld one could even say illegally....human rights etc etc.
Surely the way the whole vote on AFC should be carried out is on the basis of each person being balloted using their payroll number as the unique identifier for the individual...and EVERYBODY getting a chance for yea or nay.
Well that should have stired it up.......right pass the beer and sandwidges

You're right that will have stirred things up.

Non-union workers are quite happy in accepting pay rises the unions have negotiated.(without paying any subs.)
I don't here any of them complaining about that.

Non union members accept the same terms and conditions as union members. (Which have taken years of involvement to achieve)

If Non-union workers would like their say, contact DOH, I'm sure that they will be happy to listen to their opinions.

If it wasn’t for the union members paying their subs, the DOH would have introduced A4C without consultation.

Non-members should be grateful for union input, not whinging about not having a say.

Hopefully Amicus members will give a resounding NO to AfC on Friday and then the government can come and try to bribe us as well !!!
