At QMC Nottingham the only MTO's I know who
who have ben through AFC are the Theatre ODP's.
They were on MTO2+3 and are on or recommended
to be in Band 5.

I trust the info will be of help but the message
we get from our Human Resources is that they
will be doing their own grading irrespective
of what happens elsewhere,so I guess Southdevon
will be the same.

What will happen to those of us on MTO3 or above
is open to question,we probubly won't know till
the end of the year at the earliest. The next
big worry is of course "ON CALL".

Anyway hope all goes well

Dazza,
It is what the job requires and not neccesarily what the post holder has. If the jobs where advertised, what qualifications and experience would be asked for.
The main problem seems to be to get an agreement with management that the experience and on job training that you have is equivalent to what is being asked for on the job profile.
You could argue that if you are already doing the job in a proper and professional manner then quite clearly you have the experience and relevant training to match the job profile. If management are arguing against this then ask them which parts of the job you are not fulfilling.

How ever, if the agenda for change panel is matching you job to the national profile with your job description it does not matter what the person has.

Has any other MTO's in the NHS been matched?

Hello Dazza

I'm a MTO 3 and have been matched, although I dont know what to.
Although I will know when my pay slip arrives at the end of may as we have been told we wil be paid our new scale from May 1st.

As usual NHS protocol this is via my manager and no paper copy exists of this.
Our Nurses here are being paid AFC scales to a mixed response.

There have been other MTO'S graded and the result is very poor. Most MTO 3's are given band 5 and any with stars are given the same as MTO 4's, band 6.

The only way all of us can see if we have been graded fairly is to discuss this, we all need to be open, something which does not appear to be happening, or is everyone still totally in the dark?

Tracy

PS. I have over 9 years experience, A BEng in electronics and many specialsed course, but it doesnt seem to make a difference.

The Guidelines should prevent this sort of what I guess might be unofficial dissemination of the outcomes.
The Process is stated to be transparent;
According to our resident expert, you should get a letter, probably from Human Resources, giving you your banding and explaining the rationale by which it was arrived at.
We are all in suspense.

It is interesting that MTO's are being matched yet according to the NHS modernisation website, the profiles for MTO's are still under review.
What happens if the final versions are different. Does that mean everyone has to go through the matching process again.

Hello Ken,
I'm not sure what you mean by the profiles being out, are the profiles from last year now defunct?

Hello John,
The nursing staff recieved a letter a few days before being paid.

We have been told we have 3 months in which to lodge our complaint of the matching outcome.

The process we went through was :
Job discriptions submitted.
Matching panel ( attended by staff and management side representatives and myself and my manager.)

We were intially told september was the lastest date by which we would know the outcome of the matching.

All staff in the trust have gone through the same process.
It appears that staff assesed first are now being paid. My department was approx halfway through the process, with some matching still taking place.

Tracy,
You attended the matching panel when your JD was being matched??

We were told to be on site for the day that our JD's were being matched, just incase the panel wanted to ask us some questions/verify some details. This would have been done over the phone which, in my case, they did.

We will not be told the outcome until the whole department has been matched - not in dribs and drabs.

We've been told that our 'letter' will consist of a copy of the actual scoring sheet!

Cheers
Mark

Now lets get back to the main question, we all are looking at band six, so:

Can anyone provide supporting evidence of MTO grades which have been banded 6 or 7?

The qualification, Experience and knowledge (Number 2) and (Number 12) freedom to act are the key areas.

Can you let the rest of know what was in your job description?
