Hi Paul,

I have just got to get a tuner and an antenna up. Shouldn't be a problem for the M3, just got to get down to the local club on a wednesday night. Bit busy at the moment though but will get it done before December hopefully.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the reply, unfortunatly I cannot use a voltage diode ladder as the transformer is required to power a purist Class A Triode Amplifier, no semiconductors allowed.

I am currently searching for Info re transfomer winding for a possible Diy jobbie, 'Eeek'

Regards.

I passed the exams back in the eighties - then promptly went overseas for 12 years. Don't have a number or callsign or whatever - wouldn't know how to go about getting one - or what to do when I did -- if you see what I mean...

Any ideas? confused

Huw,
You would qualify for a Class B licence for operation on 50 MHZ and above. For Class A you would need Morse as well. Contact below for details.

Hi Huw,

Thanks to Peter for the URL, also this URL will put you in touch with the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) RSGB on their site there is a link which lists all the local radio clubs, most of these clubs run a foundation course, but as you have already passed the RAE you will only need to pass the 5 w.p.m. Morse test again these clubs would help I'm sure.
Mark (Muttley) G0TMT, who posted earlier, would be able to tell you more as he is a lead instructor and probably has more info than me.
I took my RAE exam back in the days when it was chipped into tablets of stone, I'm glad to say it seems much easier these days to gain entry into the hobby, this is because we were running out of people to talk to. Since the foundation licence there has been an influx of good quality radio amateurs now on the bands, thanks to the hard work of people like Mark G0TMT.
Good luck, Huw mate, or should I say 73 from Paul. G4LNA.

Hi guys and thanks for the links.
I can feel the enthusiasm surging.... smile

I'm sure my wife will be well pleased with the idea of me having a hobby that isn't computer related.

...and it'll probably mean she'll see even less of me.
