Hi Jan, not been able to escape yet then, Mate? You must be an expert on scorpions by now, I would have thought! So what are you saying – won’t the desert thought police let you play with your radio kit, then? frown

Or is it just the ham sandwiches they object to? smile

Ron,

What are you worrying about the low sunspot for? There's plenty to work on the LF bands, particularly on 40 Mtrs, especially now we've got the extra allocation up to 7.200MHz where the states are putting in good signals into the UK up till 10:00 hrs in the morning.

By the way, I even work 160 Mtrs on my small 30 Metre loop

Let us know when you start radiating, I'll take a listen for you.

Paul,

my reference to the sunspot min is becaisue my favourite bands are 10,12,15 and 20 mtrs although i do enjoy the 80mtr band too, but have never managed to have a decent antenna for anything below 40mtrs as i have always had small gardens
frown i may well try a loop in the future, i have been trawling ebay and have seen some good bargains, ft707's fav rig as well as the last model i owned previously ft430.
i think i will be back o n sometime in the next 3 to 6 months, i need to convert a corner in my garage as a shack smile then get in touch with the RSGB and get my licence and hopefully old call sign back.

Hi Ron,

If you want a small antenna which works well on the low bands have a look at my antenna it only takes up about 25 feet of my garden.
