I heard a politician talking about her blog yesterday. I gather it is an on-line info tool but what does BLOG stand for????

Blog comes from weB LOG, and is an on-line diary of a person's thoughts or experiences. There is often the provision for the reader to comment.
Think of it as a 21st century Adrian Mole.
Huw, If you have the development time, how about adding a blogging system onto the site? I would be willing to contribute occasional to a blog.

Hi Chilly, Not sure how that would work...? Maybe we're not thinking along the same lines - can you elaborate?
(Have you tried the new Mandriva distro yet? A bit different eh? Especially to an old RedHat/ Fedora stick in the mud! (BTW, I mean me!) )

Don't know about blogs? I could point to many examples (including, of course, my own - but modesty forbids). But why not take a look at http://custommc.blogspot.com and take it from there (ie, by clicking on NEXT BLOG at the top right of the page)? A great way to pass the time (but beware of spam). Enjoy!

I think that was a case of opening my mouth before fully engaging brain!! I am not sure how many people would like to read how many miles I polished the company car seat for today. (190 miles today but in a rental van.)
The idea I had was along the lines of having a category on the forums for blogs, where each user that wished to start a blog open a new thread, and used this as their blog.
I must give mandrake, sorry Mandriva a try. I have had to reinstall my web server about 3 times In the last two weeks, due to over heating hard drives. In the end I when back to the faithful PIII 500MHz.

Chilly, surely anyone with enough time on their hands to run a blog might as well start their own? It's easy enough to do, after all. And, I can't help but wonder, why would anybody (ie, an individual) need a web server?

Penetration and load testing to name but two Geoff. Not a good idea to do that in a live environment.
Chilly & I both enjoy (trying) to grok the penguin, but he's luckier and gets to work with him (i.e. *nix distros).
