My 740's only a young 'un with 150k on the clock and I still occasionally get ribbed and called Volvoman etc, that is until someone buys a new bed or needs a large piece of furniture shifted....

Yes, the Volvo estates are great work-horses. I even had one myself in one of my previous lives. That would have been back in ’89, so it would have been a 240, I guess (as I never buy new). Had a gearbox like a tractor, I seem to remember. Pity that Volvo never made vans!

Here, from another of my previous lives, is my trusty old 1979 GMC outside the Olaya Palace Hotel in Riyadh in November 1999. This fine vehicle had a gearbox very reminiscent of the Volvo's! The hotel is now known as the Howard Johnson Plaza, and the tree is gone in favour of asphalt for car parking!

A few years ago (alright quite a few years ago....)for me it was a 1976 - Daimler double six coupe, V12, 5343cc. regularly used for travel to and from work, and during work to travel to different sites.

These days it's an Omega Estate for me !! (much more sensible)

You've never lived until you've driven across Europe in a DKW 3 cylinder 2 stroke.
Talk about living on the edge!

Well I learnt to drive in a 1966 Sunbeam Imp Sport with the unrestricted 875cc Coventry Climax engine.
After passing my test I managed to keep the head gasket intact but went through a couple of sets of 'doughnut' couplings before putting the final nail in the coffin and managing a 6 inch split straight down the gearbox....Oops.
Papa Doc, I drove around in a Wartburg for a while and that had the Universal 3 cylinder (3 coil) 2 stroke one litre engine. Can't remember having that much fun in it apart from laying smokescreens behind and missing the offset pedals once in a while!
Got into bikes for a while then. Now got a family and an oil burning Ford Mondeo!!!

Wish I still had my Mustang great car but you needed a left leg like Garth for the clutch... Now drive a Yaris sport great fun down the lanes sticks to the road well

My main method of transport has two wheels and a chain, 18 forward gears but no reverse, superb for open top cruising but a pig in bad weather, the best part though, 0 to 20 MPH in 10 secs (with a tailwind).
