Mark,

I've never worked with you but I've met you on a few occasions and found you to be very forward and open about your experiences and how you feel about people - very much like myself I might add. What I will say as someone who works with ex-colleagues of yours is that you may be doing decent people, and yourself to some extent, a disservice with your earlier postings.

I remember taking some equipment back to Hope Hospital myself a few years back after I'd finished working for the company you refer to (that Medical Physics had been outsourced to). After working in Medical Physics 12 years I couldn't get back into the workshop without signing a permit and couldn't get past a "No admittance for unauthorised Personnel" sign. My point is that I didn't expect to "waltz back in" since the place was "under new management", I certainly didn't hold this against my ex-colleagues or people I didn't know and hadn't worked with for that matter.

In any case perhaps, in the experience you described above, the company you work for had nothing to do with it - have you considered that? Give my regards to my three remaining ex-NHS colleagues (out of 15 or so) Alan, Ivor and Bill at Hope if you see them will you. I believe there's only 6 months to go on the Hope contract isn't there? Do you think it'll go back in-house? What'll happen to "THAT company's" employed staff - will they TUPE into the NHS or be made redundant, if they lose part or all of the contract, do you think?

Quote:
Mark E, perhaps your small minded ex colleagues wer wholy jealous of your courage in moving on to greater things? F**k 'em is what I would think mate!
I wouldn't call this aspect of outsourcing and contracts "moving onto greater things", myself, Snowler. Not approaching contract renewal time.

Dear Mark,
It is a global phenomenon,we too have the same issues. Biggest problem comes when an employee join a competitor company as well as hospital.Your actions should not let anybody down. It is a small group, if you are fair enough in your actions I think everyone will accept and honor you at some stage. Current comments from all are very much valuable.
Regards
Sajeev

It is sad to think that a ex NHS biomed was treated this way, the only consulation is that one day they could be working for you.

The moral is be mindful of how you "meet and greet" because that person could be your next boss!!

Neal,

Are you suggesting that, when in a position to do so, your company's management would be vindictive and discriminatory towards individuals, they may employ in the future, that are considered to have "wronged" others, prior to working for your company, based on mere heresay? Is this the official company policy then? If so then this confirms the rumors (all heresay of course and based on my first-hand experience working for the same company, of course).

I am tempted to say the same to you! But I won't.

Happy new year.

No it is not company policy merely my own thoughts, which are you treat people as you yourself would wish to be treated.

So essentially who we work for doesn't matter in these sort of issues - we're thinking along the same lines then. Why has Mark.E chosen to make it a NHS versus company issue then do you think? Perhaps this has nothing to do with it - maybe there's a bit of "stirring" going on to gain moral support perhaps. Where I work we try to treat all visitors in the same manner - with courtesy and respect - departments should not be seen to have any favourites (particularly between companies/representatives). That's a professional approach in my personal opinion.

The whole body of law in civilized countries may be summarized as “Do as be done by”. All the rest is merely embellishment! smile
