Dear Colleagues,

Our department (currently Medical Engineering), have been told that we may be required to change our name in line with all the new work we are being asked to do (contracts/mechanical maintenance/equipment projects) and have been asked to come up with suggestions. We have come up with a few (most unprintable on this site! ) however we thought we'd put this question to the communitty at large, and find out what other EBME department title's are used.

We know that a local hospital use Medical Equipment Services Unit (MESU). (But I personally think that sounds a bit naff!)

We are called "Clinical Engineering". We used to be "Medical Equipment Unit" until a few years ago and we are still referred to as such by many clinical staff, in a few cases "Medical Physics"!

I believe that we’ve been here before (a couple of times, at least)!

Many years ago before my time a member of our department was heard to answer the phone with "hello medical phiswick s**t"

We have two departments, now: MESU and BME. MESU is older, and i am there. We, in the MESU, provide a service work, repairs, maintenance and dealers communication and spare parts ordering. And BME dept. collects periodical check lists and provide a BIG PUBLIC(intranet) DATABASE OF PERIODICAL CHECKS.
