I am looking for comments from hospitals who use flexible scopes "NOT supplied by Keymed". (We already have Keymed)

If your Hospital uses an alternative -
1. What do you use?
2. Are the users happy with them?
3. Are you happy with the service/support?
4. Are the whole of life costs cheaper than Keymed?

Dear Sir,
We have the brabds olympus,pentax,fujinon in our part of the world. All are reprsented through their distributors.All have problems and quality issues in images,repaircost,cost of ownership etc.Important factor of scope is the care given to it while using and during cleaning and disinfection.I am also interested to hear the comments from other members mainly on the role of biomed in the scope repair.

Hi John,
We use both Pentax and Olympus(Keymed) scopes in our Endoscopy units. I believe the staff there like the option of switching between the two manufacturers(Pentax & Olympus). I think they feel some scopes give a better image specific to the proceedure they are carring out.

I could not recall exactly like for like in terms of costing, I believe from memory(dont quote me) the Penatx service came out slightly more expensive, however with this all said and done, I was fortunate to visit Pentax technical facilities in Slough a good while back. Very impressive set up. We get good service from them and the repair turnaround is second to none.

Our OT's use a mixture of wolfs, stortz and the likes, but I believe most of these are rigids.

John we use mainly Fujinon scopes in our Endoscopy units as well as some Pentax and Olympus. Service from Endoscopy UK very good always got a loan for any repairs under service contract as well as quick turnaround of repairs. Not sure on costs of service contract but well worth it.

Thanks for the feedback. I have the costings, Fujinon are around a third cheaper than Keymed, but are Keymed worth a third more? (£200K in replacement costs)
