I have been asked to develope (quickly), an outline business plan for the set up of a maintenance service for radiology/ultrasound equipment.
Has anyone got a copy of one they could let me use as a template?

I have not got one Andrew, but what about contacting Bill, at Airedale. I think they have been through this one to some degree.
By the way if you get anything on paper would you mind sharing it with me also ? - sounds an interesting proposition to look at in these cash strapped/CIP times.

Plenty of people around who would do this for a fee, Andy.

Plenty of companies around who would be happy to bung in a proposal to maintain your equipment, too, I would have thought!

I once asked a PFI finance manager the same question and was surprised to learn he tended to make up the business plan as he went along.
Being involved since for some time now in public, private healthcare and new NHS schemes, there seems to be no standard templates, I suppose what he meant the plan gets tailored to meet the end.
I have produced financial plans involving building, installation, capital and lifecycle cost, payback analysis and maintenance cost modeling.
What you may need is a maintenance cost model comparison against a schedule of given equipment with the various maintenance options.

In house maintained with OEM support contracts
OEM maintenance and its options
A Managed Equipment Service (MES)

The equipment suppliers can give you all the information you need on the first options, as Geoff correctly surmised, I would be happy to provide a MES solution proposal.

Darrens answer is great.As seave said please collect all information from the vendors.Analyse which is suitable for your organisation and avialable resources from your department ( able biomeds). Geoffs suggestions of out sourcing is best if you donot have good resources with you.
Collect informations then take a wise decision.

I think Andy has been asked to setup an in-house service.

The comments he is receiving is for him to offer it to PFI.

Andy, please correct me if I am wrong.

Airedale do not do any in-house, their contracts are managed service.I did visit them 2 years ago and that is what I saw.

It is for an in-house service where work like this has traditionally been put out to contract.
