How could they possibly have got it wrong? To use just a self-starting motor (shaded pole, for example) just wouldn’t have been vorsprung durch technic, would it?

Efficiency might be an issue? Do they run any quieter? Probably not much in it, eh?

It's going to run and run - unlike the motor - no pun intended!

Dräger resolved this issue somewhile ago by making available a capacitor based on the market demand,

The capacitor is now available as a spare part.

For reference
Part number is 182 3019 @ £20.30 - description is 'Condenser 68MYF 100V'

How kind of Herr Dräger to offer spare parts for his equipment ... but why so expensive? Perhaps he should replace these defective items free of charge (now there's a thought)!
