Dear all ebme forum users,

this is a general request if not relevant for the forum moderator you are free to delete.

I have previously had a career in healthcare sales and marketing the last nine years in a marketing role, after an unsuccessful rather sideways change of direction to become a science teacher (liked the teaching struggled with controlling 30 hormonal teenagers at a time!) I am looking to resume a career in healthcare sales or marketing I have interview lined up with Edwards life sciences http://www.edwards.com/ with the life trac product and a new company Blue Box Medical http://www.blueboxmedical.co.uk/index.php does any body have any thoughts comments or feedback on these companies or their products/ your assistance would be greatly appreciated

EDIT spell checked (maybe tht's why teachinging did not work 8-))

Hi Terrapin
If you want to work for a large international organisation, then go for Edwards. Plenty of opportunities to develop your career but can be very cut throat in that environment ie. targets to meet all the time that are continually increasing.
Blue Box seems to be the complete opposite. Small friendly company trying to grow in the market. A good opportunity to maybe develop with the company. The downside is that the resources are not there as in Edwards and a distributor has tighter margins and is always a potential source for losing a franchise or being taken over.
Good luck with the interviews.

thanks Kawasaki,

you summarised the situation very concisely, the interview with Blue box medical went very well today, I like your comment about them being freindly, I have also recognised the questions you raise but the opportunities (and risk) of a start up are interesting we shall see how the subsequent interviews proceed.

Edwards would be my traditional choice strong clinical support but small fish in big pond whereas blue box might be big fish in small pond.

I appreciate your reply and will keep the forum posted on my progress.

I have experience of the "big company" as I was a product manager at Tyco Healthcare for nine years with DVT prevention products Intermittant Pneumatic Compression and antiembolism stockings, prior to my move into teaching.

Thanks

Terrapin (the slow but determined one remember aesop's fable)
