We seem to be getting relatively poor reliability from our Masimo reuseable finger probes compared to other manufacturers. They seem to be failing just outside their 6 month warranty and it doesn't seem to be restricted to any particular clinical area.

Usual problems are down to cable failure and occasionally low readings.

Anyone got similar problems, seems a shame when the technology behind them is supposed to be world beating.

Yes. I have had a problem in the past. A number of patient cables delivered with new equipment from Datascope gave me a problem, I returned them under warranty and they were replaced. The problem seems to have gone now but I get my normal supply of replacement cables from Viamed. These seem free from the problem.

I also experienced problems with Henleys Masimo compatable rubber envolope type probes and they have stopped distributing them, to the best of my knowledge.

I understand the problem is to do with poor quality connections in the plug at the equipment end. It is a pity because as you say I find the Masimo system to be very good.

Are you able to get Masimo or Masimo compatable sensors from Viamed? I've just had a look on their website but nothing is showing there regarding Masimo.

Yes, no problem at all, and they last at least as long as anyone elses.

As well as the documented problems with the probes we are also experiencing problems with the Marquette to Masimo adapter cables. Not only do they fail on a regular basis but we can never get any to supply them in less than four weeks. We have orders placed with GE, Eden Medical and Artemis but no deliveries yet. Anybody else having similiar problems and does anybody know where i can get some leads ?
