Hi Gents,

Eastwood park are about to run their foundation degree in medical equipment engineering Oct 2007, which has three streams -Medical equipment, MGPS and sterilisers/washer disinfectors. This is a distant learning 2 year package, you must be employed within one of their three diciplines, its like Open University i the workplace + 3 weekends per annum taken up at Eastwood park. End result Fdsc after your name. there is a link to the prospectus on their website www.eastwoodpark.co.uk. They are also running NVQ level 3 courses which are directly mapped to the occupational standards.

The Foundation degree by Kingston University in partnership with Eastwood Park www.eastwoodpark.co.uk at a cost of £3000.00 per annum for two years.

All students are eligible for goverment student loans regardless of salary. Bursary's can also be applied for upon application.

This course has been developed by Eastwood park SEMTA, Skills for health and IHEEM and follows on from NVQ level 3 courses currently being run at the same facility. Entry requirements are varied and dependent upon experience and qualifications ranging from boffins with folders full of academic qualifications to those with no formal qualifications but bags of experience i.e Old and Bold workshop staff.

It is a course whereby you document your work, complete dissertations, take part in web chats, listen to pod casts etc and yes three weekends per annum being forced to eat Eastwood Park food and carrying out practical assessments. A IPOD is loaned at the begining of the course.

Those that cannot make the weekends, i.e. HM forces (Med & Dent techs) Overseas students; alternative arrangements for assessment will be made.

I’m doing OK, Mate. Been following my own advice and keeping out of those dirty, unhealthy, hospitals, and taking the summer one flower at a time! How about you, Buddy? Still got that Freedom Machine? The PM and email lines are always open! smile
