Sorry but after 5 years 10% is a kick in the teeth.

Since the inland revenue haven't raised their figures we'll be taxed on the increase too, unless you get public transport rate.

Don't complain too much Lee, the AA has calculated that on average it costs 47p/mile to run your average car. The mileage rate hike 5 years ago brought the level way above the running costs. Admittedly, fuel prices have shot up over the last 12 months and 10% increase doesn't seem to take this into account, but when your ahead of the game...????!!!!!

I wonder if I can swap my mileage allowance for a £24k allowance and run a flat closer to the hospital for when I'm on call. I may even change my job name to Medical Engineer MP. And set up a system whereby I decide my annual pay increase!!!

Yes but I have a 30 mile to the gallon Touran which costs mega bucks to service so is probably more expensive to run than the average car.
And before anybody starts, yes I do occasionally need seven seats! And no I am not going to buy a cheaper car to run around in when I don't need the seven seats (on the green issue it uses much more energy and resources to produce a car than it does to run one for the sort of mileage i do).

Don't forget that the AfC TOC allows for half a passenger (!) for carrying equipment that is heavy (approx more than 20Kgs)or occupies a seat. With the new rates this is 2.5ppm - Every little Helps But watch out for fight when you try to claim it... Andy

We have a local mileage rate and a public transport rate.
The PTR is presently £0.53/mile.

I wish my car did 30MPG Lee S, I'm happy seeing an average of 24 in my beast!! :-D I don't really put that many mileage claims in, I only live about 8 miles from work and mostly can be bothered. I know this trust has different rates for engine size and I they have different rates for On-Call, Return To Work etc. I tend to worry more about my insurance policy. I keep meaning o look into being paid to drive into work during a call out session.
New beginning. New location. New adventure. Old grumpy me!
