You quote the BS.
Does it not say that the probe should be of a suitable quality stainless steel, or a comparible hard wearing corrosion resistant material (see ANNEX B). In my experience the probes we have on the kit from this supplier meet these requirements. We have over 60 ventilators, anaesthetic machines etc that are all ok some of which have been in use for years with no problems. What you do get obviously with a softer probe is easier damage if dropped etc. This is a user proble though surely.
Also with regards the compatibilty of probes : terminal outlets. The BS also states that there are several compatibility issues (or the lack of it) between probe and terminal unit manufacturers (see ANNEX A; table A.1).
As such we make sure of compatibility of equipment prior to purchase via a detailed pre purchase / tender spec.
Eg This trust curently has terminal unit outlets of the following types********, ********,******** does the machine being quoted / tendered for permit connection to these systems in compliance with all current standards and legislation in force in this country?
