Has anybody got these monitors (N560 Nellcor Pulse Oximeter) in there hospital? They are quite new so I don't know who how many are out there. I have spocken to an EBME engineer who work in a hospital who have N550. She seid that the front panel comes of very easily if knocked about, which will happen in any hospital. Nellcor have asured us that this problem has been rectified with the N560. Any comments?

Hi Webbie
We've got some 560s and thay have a detachable rubberised surround to the casing which should withstand any knocks.

Yep, ours also have the rubber boots and we haven't seen any problems - they're just coming up for their 12mth ppm and it is only the second time they have been in the w/shop (first was the acceptance test!) so they are looking pretty reliable.

Yes the rubber boot is a definite improvement. We have about 10 560's in the trust and so far none have been "Nursed" to death.
Compared with the 30 or so 550's which get "Field modified " by our nursing staff on a regular basis. Strangely enough I have a 550 on my bench at the moment for that exact problem!

the thickness of the plastic around the probe socket has also been increased on the N560
