You obviously hoped (expected) that things were going to be better in the UK than they are back home, Lay Lay. But human nature, in all its facets, prevails wherever homo sapiens rule, I would say. Care to comment on that?

Yes, I do expect a much better scenario over in UK but then I seriously doubt it now. Not purely due to this incident but my experience with an unethical recruitment agency; never keep their promises, never pay regularly unless the temp keeps an eye on his or her bank account. Just a crap agency. I am waiting for the day for me to call off from them. I hope will be soon! In fact I have a gut feeling; the HR intends to manually filter out those applicants who are not residing within the Oxfordshire. I feel it would be unfair to these applicants. Anyway when I spoke to the hiring manager today he has doubt there will be an interview at all! I suppose there is nobody call him up yet or probably he did verbally inform those who did call up that the post is limited to those residing in Oxfordshire only. Oh well, I privately did receive a special request from a EBME registrant to share hints/clues on my past interview with him/her. And I am not a selfish person and willing to share whatever I can recall but as to ensure that I am helping the right person I did reply by asking him/her on the questions listed below: - 1. Since you are so keen to be in the post, why you did not apply at the 1st instance when the post was 1st advertised? 2. Why does him or her earger to be a Clinical Technologist? Until now I did not receive a reply from him or her yet. Well, will be still pending on his or her reply as to justify for my hints/clues on my interview! Cheers!

Great news! I am finally able to call quit from the unethical agency!!! Just committed myself to another temp job from an ethical and reliable agency! So my financial side is resolved; with consistent income! And the person did reply to both of my questions this morning. But I feel only the answer to the 1st one question is acceptable to me if I were the interviewer... Anyway I did share with him/her on the technical questions which I could recall and wish him/her luck! Well if he or she is hired rather than me then I can only comment that the interview panels probably have disability on the interview day; no intuition at all. Will see then! Cheers!

Why share, when you could sell?Only joking, Lay Lay, as I know that you could never do that. So, is the temp job something to your liking? We hope so. And do you know, some people never settle and just roam from one temp job to another throughout their complete career. I've been a bit like that myself, although I would have to admit that the word "career" is a bit of an over-elaboration in my case! Anyway, good luck.

Nope in my case unfortunately. I hope I have a choice to earn money by working in what I love but in reality that's not the case. So now I am sort of being forced to drop my voluntary work from 4hours to probably less than 4hours per day... Just wish I could earn money through voluntary works but nope or else it will never be termed as 'voluntary'!
Both temp jobs are cleaning roles; one within a university residential hall and another is within a local primary school. And I hope my desired job; Trainee Clinical Technologist will come soon! So at the mean time I just focus to earn as much as possible as to be ready to move out from my current location. I hope I will not be skinner with these jobs as they are physical energy demanding jobs. Just hope I can call an end to both jobs soon!
So just have to be patience as well as diligence to earn as much as I could before Dec 07.

Frankly, I admire your spirit, Lay Lay, not to mention your willingness to work. Both characteristics can not always be taken for granted these days, regretably. A lady I know very well, who some years ago feel upon hard times, was not too proud to get stuck into cleaning jobs. After a while her willingness, and hard work, was duly noted and she now manages property in the UK for the ruling Sheikh of Dubai. She was (and is) also the "soul of discretion", which was highly regarded by the Sheikh, too. Stick to your principles, and you'll get your just rewards eventually. Voluntary work is especially satisfying, I would say, if only because you can pick and choose about what you actually do! I like a bit of physical work now and then myself. Not only is it "good for the soul", but it also burns off all those Twix bars! I'm thinking of doing a Jimmy Savile (you may not have heard of him, I guess). He was (and is) a well-known DJ and TV personality who used to put in shifts every week as a porter at a hospital in Leeds. I'm part of the way down that road already, as (like Sir Jimmy), I'm usually to be found in my track-suit! Ha, ha.

Hi all, Some update from me again! Just spoke to the hiring manager today and there will be a 3rd round of interview which will be held next week. And I'll only learn about the outcome on the following week the earliest. Well, if there is no call from the HR by then I'll follow up with the hiring manager again! And, of course, will post in this forum again!! Again, THANKS TO YOU ALL WHO HAVE ASSISTED ME THROUGHOUT MY APPLICATION FOR TRAINEE CLINICAL TECHNOLOGIST!!! THANKS!!!!

Hi all, Just received a reply from the HR. I am dropped out from the post now and another person is picked from the 3rd round of interview which was held last Fri... Hmm... now I really wonder what is the real reason for placing me as a reserved candidate. is it purely due to my knowledge in basic electricity? This is really a BIG question mark to me! I'll figure out with the hiring manager on Thurs (05/12/2007) and hopefully he is able to give a satisfactory answer! Anyway, I suppose I'll be leaving this forum for good now since I can't really contribute anything at all... Enjoy your job while I'll continue my torturing work.

I'll admit that I'm running out of suggestions, Lay Lay, except to say that there are other fish in the sea, as it were. If I were you I would let this job go (why prolong the agony?), and look around elsewhere. This time of year is a bit of a dead loss when it comes to picking up work, as the hospital hiring types will be distracted with other nonsense. But come the New Year, when they realise that they haven't yet spent their budget, things usually perk up a bit. Why not relax and enjoy the "Festive Season" (we're not allowed to call it "Christmas" now, you know), just like everybody else? But, whatever you do, please don't leave the forum. We sorely need a bit of light relief now and then. But having just seen this, I would have to say it looks like you need to get your skates on Lay Lay!

Geoff, I know you were trying to console me, but, oh well, I intend to let it go as well but I seriously need to know what is the real reason behind as I prefer not to blindly pursue something which is completely impossible. So, for the time being, I'll continue to work for the agencies and will quit by end of this month. Starting from next month, with my move, I hope I am able to secure any engineering post ASAP as my 1 year period is almost finishing soon which, at a later stage, will prevent me from working... So time is running out by end of March '08... I hope I were you able to relax with my current situation but I just can't until I secure a permanent job anyway; be it in a hospital or not. Anyway, I'll revert back to IC design if I am still able to secure one in UK. Will see then. Thanks!
