Hello Everyone,
I am not sure if this is the right forum but I am posting anyway...
I work in a University Hospital in Oman the middle east and we are in need of a proper equipment label for more than 7,000 medical equipment. It should also include the label printer. The labels must be resistant to erasing and chemicals.

I find in the NHS, nothing is resistance to erasing - because staff (especially HCA's) are VERY good with markers!!!

No doubt someone will be able to recommend their favourite asset label, and give you (us) the supplier's contact details.

In fact, while we're at it, let's hope we hear about design, layout, etc. ... whether to include telephone number, bar-codes, asset numbering regimes and all the rest. Perhaps we'll even see some examples!

We just use a dymo and a brother tape macine these do th job perfectly well for our needs

We use a Brother label machine which is connected to a pc.

Capable of graphics printing, mail merge, auto cut, partial cut (for creating reels of peelable numbers) and uses a homemade word template.

Yes for those Code 39 buffs you can use a Barcode font if you wish

I think the printer came in at under £200. The tape cartridges are reasonably priced and very hardwearing (which is most important!)

Supports multiple colours, 8mm-36mm tape width (which is ample and handy to adjust for smaller devices).

Here at St. Joseph's Healthcare we have tried many different label types. We have used Dymo embossing labels, which was resistant to chemicals but peeled off in time. We also used the Dymo Thermal labels but they turned colour in time and couldn't be read. So far the best label system we have used to date is the Hellerman Tyton HTI2100. We used a label from them part # TAGH73-DTH 2"x1". The DTH labels apparently stand up to chemicals better then their regular labels. The printer itself is very portable, can do bar coding and auto increments digit fields if you are logging in a large amount of equipment.
