Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust is a major provider of acute healthcare in Hampshire and uses 15,000 medical devices to assist diagnosis and treatment. The devices employ a wide range of technologies including electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and computing engineering techniques. The majority of devices are supported and maintained by the Clinical Engineering Section of the Medical Physics Department.

To provide a complete medical equipment management service, duties include acceptance testing, planned preventative maintenance, calibration and equipment repair. You must have a sound understanding of scientific and engineering principles and be able to apply these to a wide range of situations.

If you have experience in any of the above subjects applied within healthcare together with an appropriate engineering or scientific qualification at degree level or equivalent we are keen to hear from you. Applicants with an appropriate degree and with a minimum of 18 months applicable experience will be eligible for Band 5 £19,683 - £25,424. The position is open to those with aptitude and willingness to study but with lesser qualifications and experience than that described above, to be appointed at Band 4 £16,853 -£20,261 pa with an opportunity for promotion following appropriate training.

Working in healthcare requires a flexible approach and hence, in addition to technical knowledge, we are looking for those who can communicate effectively, are self-motivated and able to prioritise, coupled with the desire and ability to initiate and embrace new ideas.

Portsmouth is situated on the south coast with easy access to a varied waterfront and close to the beautiful countryside of the South Downs. Good rail, road and ferry links provide convenient transport to London and the continent.
Please note that we use NHS Jobs to communicate shortlistings and invite to interview, therefore please ensure you check your e-mail account regularly.

PHT has adopted a smoke-free policy. You are unable to smoke inside our buildings or in the grounds of any of our premises.

The Trust is committed to valuing the benefits of diversity in its staff and committed to equal opportunities.
