The internet is not only a fantastic resource, but it is (in my view) a great
leveler. It encourages me to imagine our stereotypical tech, struggling away in some God-forsaken spot somewhere, being comforted by an ability to appeal for help on forums such as this one (there are others). I often wish it had been at our disposal in some of the places I myself have toiled away at in the past.
Of course that presupposes
access to the web, but from what I see and hear, universal access is
becoming more and more of a reality. I consider myself lucky to have lived to see it, and in some small way, be part of it too.

It's
people power, and most of the regimes in the world will
never get it! Just look at what's going on in certain areas of the world today (any day). The first thing the old fossils always try to do is to curtail access to the net.
Viva la Revolution! Let us
techies not only be part of it, but also take the lead!
