We have had three instances recently of Hill-Rom 'Evolution' beds failing. The main problem has been failure of the main pivots that the head and foot sections are rotated about. As usual with these problems Hill-Rom are claiming that we are the only Trust suffering these problems. We have not been able to identify any mis-use with regard to weight of patient etc, and when the pivot bolts snap it is generally inside the pivot ass'y so inspection is unable to identify a problem without serious dismantling of the bed.
Is anyone else out there having these problems?

Hello Rick,
We have evolution beds and have never seen this fault, although we had other manfactures beds becoming very stiff on these joints and eventually seiezing, but never snapping.
Are vistors sitting on the end sections?

Hi Rick although I don't look after the bed frames myself I have seen a pivot bolt snap on an evoluation in our ITU. Sounds like you are getting the standard preprogrammed reponse from HR

Thank you for your responses. I have heard of one other case like mine where the troubles started after 5 yrs of use. Our beds were bought in Oct 2000. What is the age of the beds you have?
