Does anyone know of a paper or recommendations from Europe on the Minimum Monitoring & Anaesthetic Standards for an A&E department.

Also can you tell me just how well equipped your departments are i.e. How many anaesthetic m/c's do you have? Do you have monitoring on all m/c's? What level of monitoring do you have? Do all monitors have gase & agent?

Hi Allan

Try this link.

http://www.aagbi.org/publications/guidelines/docs/standardsofmonitoring07.pdf

All our m/cs are 4 gas setups with full patient parameter monitoring +gas and agent. All main theatre m/cs have full ventilator monitoring as integral.

Hope this helps

Brian

BBottomley,

Four gas setup Air, O2, N2O and CO2 (I thought CO2 was frowned upon nowadays?)

Anaesthetic machines are good for A&E if you are lucky enough to get an aneathetist. Our one got removed because the A&E doctors had a play with them!
