We here run the Aquarius and have not had this problem. But we have had exactly the same symptoms on our heart bypass pumps.
The general source of this interferance seems to be as you say above micro currents being generated on the tube surface or within the blood inside the tubing, caused by electro-static build up.
2 quick things you could check. 1) the roller occulsion of the pumps on to the tubing itself - if it is set slightly high so as to over occulude the pump then this can stress the tubing leading to an electo-static problem. 2) I know this sounds daft but try spraying the pump heads and raceways with a little anti-static spray.

Yes, anti-static spray could well be the answer here. So let's hope we hear good news soon!

As Paul points out, it is a well known phenomenon with Heart-Lung Bypass machines due to static build up on the plastic pump raceway. Anti-static spray can help alleviate this. However, the pumps on CVVH machines tend to have pre-set occlusion and are non-adjustable and also it is impracticable to keep spraying with anti-static. Make sure that the patient's ECG electrodes are correctly applied (as pointed out by other contributors) as this will alleviate the problem in most cases. Also check that the CVVH machine pumps have been lubricated correctly with regard to the rollers and main shaft.

we have this problem and find that a quick spray of antistatic into the blood pump pathway reduces the interference.

Thanks guys for all your suggestions, I'll try some of these out next time we experience the problem. I've already tried connecting the equipotential points on the machines but this made no difference.

How about using diathermy proof ECG leads, they cut down on the interference cause by ESU. It maybe worth a try as you may already have these leads in theatre. A.M

Whenever possible, it's always best to treat the cause, rather than the symptoms!

Just thought it might be easier than wrapping patient treatment hose in tin foil. How about sticking an anti static strap on the patient. A.M

Just thought it might be easier than wrapping patient treatment hose in tin foil. Perhaps ... but where's the fun in that?
