Berlin - What a fab place, I was there the night England played France and lost 2-1! Then to the Irish Bar for a bit of wine & singing. It is supposed to be a bad winter in Germany this year, I have been here 4 years now and they have all been very mild.

I must say the worst place in the UK i have been is New Cumnock in Ayrshire - I can honestly say i have seen better looking Bosnian war villages than New Cumnock!

DW - 3 months left then off to the darkside

Oh yes. I was last in Berlin back in the good old days of the so-called "Cold War". Don't worry, folks ... I kept it going as long as I could!

Meanwhile, during my camp-site days (to which I may just return, but that's another story), I can honestly report that the worse night I've ever had was at a site near Ayr. Closely followed by another near Rotherham, beating a bad one near Aviemore into third place. All due to fellow campers, I should make clear, not the sites themselves! And the best? Why, in "Glorious Devon", of course! E&OE. frown

PS: only three months and an early breakfast, Darth? You must be counting the days now, then Mate.

"Flow gently, sweet Afton, among thy green braes,
Flow gently, I'll sing thee a song in thy praise;
My Mary's asleep by thy murmuring stream,
Flow gently, sweet Afton, disturb not her dream."

Hi, After pulling the pin on England (Basildon had a lot to do with that episode)in 1992, I found my slice of paradise here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tauranga

Tauranga - that looks like a fantastic place, this is where i live at the minute - the most famous person that lives here is the singer from Mungo Jerry!

DW - It will be all over soon! 3 months who is counting?

There was another famous (not) person living there from 1979 to 1982, Darth. Am Niederfeld. I forget the haus number now, but it was probably the best I've ever lived in! The kids were little, and even the frau was happy in those days! Yes, it's a nice place (especially in the winter time). I once walked the whole length of the Teutoburger Wald from Osnabrück to Detmold.

'Corz, Bielefeld just doesn't compare to where I shack up these days. Just off junction 33 of the M1, and a couple of miles from the most "ethnically diverse" cluster of streets in the whole of England! smile

Singapore differs from HongKong as it is much greener (garden city), full of greenary (created with our parks and recreation dept) almost everywhere, to bring down the temperature for we are a tropical country with only one season. Singapore is much smaller but a beautiful and friendly city (describe as the little red dot) with friendly multi-racial people around. Security-wise, you can safely walk on the streets of Singapore at any time of day without worries. Since it is a small country, everything gets done within a short time. Geoff, you will like it, believe me but for one thing the humidity is a bit wetter and you may not like being "sticky" all day without cool airconditioning. Singapore Government ensures everyone has a roof over them. Very low unemployment rate (but it get larger now for the world has turned economically bad).

Make the impossible POSSIBLE. I know we all can and it is the wisdom to distinguish one from the other.

I doubt that the population density would be to my liking, though, Mate. Too much hustle and bustle for my taste, I should imagine. To my mind, the best thing about Hong Kong were the New Territories (as they were then known). frown

Yet another fine example of BS (I collect them, you know)!

That's it then ... I'll need to start buying my batteries elsewhere!

PS: I wonder why Woolies didn't move into on-line shopping and home deliveries a la Tesco? There again, maybe they have, for all I know. smile
