Hi,
I've replaced battery in HP M3046A Viridia M3. Yeah, how hard can it be... smilewink New battery works, but monitor is now alarming "Battery malfunction"
In Setup/Battery window seems everything OK. Except for S/N which is 0 and number of cycles is still 11
I don't have service manual. Is there something I have to do after replacement of accumulator?

Clearly monitor can communicate with battery - can download manufacturer name and other info, but I think that monitor might have a problem with S/N of battery. Seems to me, he doesn't like zeroes. It's not OEM battery.

Battery does not have to be OEM but must be type NJ1020HP to communicate properly with monitor. ninja

According to our manual the battery malfunction states that 'The battery has had a full discharge, to put it on charge and after approximately 5 mins it should find the battery'

Leave it on over night and check it in the morning.

As has been stated before if the battery is not the proper type it will not communicate. ( I personnaly hate these smart cells ). We have found that these batteries only last about a year anyway as the charging circuit destroys them.

Anyway good luck with yours.

It's morning, battery is fully charged, same problem. As John said, it must be type NJ1020HP.

According to our data the battery is meant to be a NJ1020HP (oem) as John said and from euroenergy here in the UK its £112.50.

Are you sure the alarm is not "recondition battery" instead of "malfunction"?
How does the battery icon on the display look like?
You can try reconditioning your battery.
1. leave the monitor on until the battery completely discharges and the monitor goes off by itself. What I do at this is to "hide" the monitor inside a drawer as the constant alarm can be annoying.
2. Charge the monitor battery overnight.

No, it really is Malfunction. Battery Icon is black rectangle with white rim and red "Malfunction" in the middle.
I've tried to recondition the battery as you described. Didn't help.
Think I'll have to send this new battery to distributor. Maybe he can reprogramm it. At least give it new S/N and maybe change date of manufacture from "18 Sep 00" to something else..
