Hi, Our A&E dept has 3 masimo sets which they primarily use with paeds, all of which have suffered a fault in a 10 day period. Our engineering dept has had to send them back to the UK - leaving our A&E with an old datex-ohmeda sats monitor. Has anyone had any similar issues with the masimo equipment, as we are wondering if it is a known issue? Apologies for the lack of technical knowledge - I'm a nurse project manager.

Not that we have heard of! Can't you ask for a one-to-one exchange.

Make the impossible POSSIBLE. I know we all can and it is the wisdom to distinguish one from the other.

We dont have many of them but the ones we do have, we have had little problems with.

Only fault i have seen is the plastic snapping on the acutal finger sensor.

How old are your monitors?

We were contacted by our local Masimo rep recently regarding software versions on Radical 7 monitors shipped to us around October 2008 as there was a bug in a version of software prior to this date that he stated could cause the unit to constantly alarm after a large number of on / off cycles.

There is a software update to fix this which reps, certainly in this area of NW England, are pushing out to customers.

Would certainly we worth a phone call to Masimo to discuss should you be it doubt.

Hi,

We have around 50 of these units and have had them for some time now, the only problems we have had are damaged thumb latches, lights flashing (usually the battery is due replacement) and the casing becoming cracked, it seems very brittle. Are you aware of the specific problems with your monitors?

Which Masimo equipment do you have, is it an handheld or an add on piece of kit.
Whish part has failed the sensor (or more likely on early types the cable) or the module if integrated.

Hi - have endevoured to gather more info and have spoken to our A&E department. We use the masimo rainbow radical 7 which came back from the uk and we were told that it was a connective lead problem? so have ordered a replacement, but A&E are looking to source a replacement company as are not happy with masimo

Hi there,
Why not invest in a Viamed repair at <100pds and have a spare. Masimo are looking more at sales and less at the backup and help as they should. We have had issues and carry spares in case the worse case happens.
Good luck
