Could anyone advise of a suitable database to hold clinical staff training records against equipment?

This would obviously be used as as a structured and documented method to manage the risks associated with the use of medical devices and to ensure that users are properly trained in their operation.

I realise that there will be a few systems out there but would like some input ASAP.

Would welcome some feedback of systems that operate out of the box and there interoperability with systems such as ESR / HR etc.

Why not just get "Human Resources" to maintain a list of kit trained on against every name in their existing staff database (how many databases do they need)? smile

Hi Joe,
I had a similar idea, but you dont have to stop at clinical staff.
Anyway if you can speak to someone at Shrewsbury they developed their own, which works really well.I dont think they come on here too often(i maybe wrong!)

Hi Joe

Our ESR (ELectronic Staff Record) Team, linked to Payroll and the Education & Training Centre manage all of this. It is part of the OLM (Oracle Learning Module).

Speak to Robert at Portsmouth (Rojo) as he has been working on something for this.

Hi Joe,
The system we developed here at Shrewsbury was described as 'the best complete system' our NHSLA assesssor had seen. It accepts downloads of staff details from ESR for all Trust staff.
Send me a PM and I'll email you some screenshots.
Cheers,
John

Thanks to those that have responded, I have contacted two commercial systems and evaluated one so far with the other planned for early next month.

I have looked at screenshots of the system at Shrewsbury and hats off to them, it does look good as it is based around the Trust TNA and this propogates the TNA to the medical device inventory and staff ESR record.

If anyone has any home made systems (with table / column suggestions) I would welcome them. I am willing to share what I have done already if anyone requests it.

I am especially interested in hearing either in the forumn or privately in your experiences with dealing with the assessment visit and what type of information is required by the assessors to demonstrate compliance.

Thanks.
Joe
