Was just passing and thought i might "stir up the pot" a bit and say hello!
Have to agree about half term, its a period in time if people are away from work, that you need to switch off from everything work related and concentrate on the cinema and days out and nice family related easy thinking subjects......

Come next week and reality, i shall have another shed load of questions to bug you all with....get ready for me Geoff, Ive got some corkers just for you my friend!

Since when does the whole world grind to a halt just because kids in the UK are on half-term holiday? Surely to the majority of people coming on here (this forum) it makes absolutely no difference at all. Sounds to me like some of you guys need to "get real" (that is, take a grip on reality)!


Why wait till then, Quinny? Many of us who work in the "real world" (that is, non-NHS) are generally available 24x7, anyway.

That's the point.....oh so quiet...no one around with nothing to say! We are just musing over where people may be.

Personally, i have not had leave since last October SO to have a week off to think about other things is a bit of a novelty.

And no the whole world will not come to a shuddering halt because its school holidays its just that for many of us priorities are different at these times.
I cant be expected to frivolously blow and waste truck loads of tax payers money with my inexperience and poor commitment 24 hours a day & 7 days a week now can i Geoff, i need some time off to waste my husbands hard earned wage!

I so wish that my job was just a tiny bit as valid and "in the real world" as yours appears to be, i could justify taking a wage far better and my conscience would be clear wouldn't it.

Geoff, it's true that the whole world doesn't grind to a halt at half term. However the holiday does impact upon this forum.

It has (over that last few years) always been the case.

So what may we deduce from that?

Could it simply be that they are busy, er ... working? And don't worry, your "wage" will already be well in excess of what I take, or ever likely to take.

H'mmm. Pity we can't arrange this as the permanent state of affairs, somehow. Like banning the 4x4 "school runs", for a start (I would suggest).

No, not really ... not around here, at any rate. It just seems that all the neds, chavs, hoodies et al simply appear sometime in the afternoon and mooch about into the early hours the following morning. Pity they haven't got something useful to do, I reckon. Now, when I was a kid ....

I was buying a newspaper(in a newsagents/ off-licence) this morning (approx 9am) and some of them were complaining the beer wasn't cold enough...
