Has there ever been a standard pump to bed ratio used to determine the number of devices required in a hospital? I thought i might have seen this in a previous post but i have failed to locate it.

Depends on the severity of the illness, as you may have noticed CCU & ICU departments have more pumps than other areas

I did some work on this a while ago. Typically 3.5 beds to one pump seems a good norm to have for general wards.

Cannot see how you can have an official pump/bed ratio. Surely it depends on the specialities that each hospital has and the quantity of beds each speciality has.

And once again I feel I need to remind everyone that patients are looked after by nurses, not beds!
