Morning all (just). We are looking for an air source of one sort or another that will go from 0 to 200mmHg (approx) with an accuracy of +/- 0.1 mmHg. Actual flow is negligiable. At present it looking like a sphyg bulb, y piece and pressure meter!!

Sounds like you need a Druck! smile

You could try these people.

Or did you have in mind something like the good old DPM (.pdf)?

We use a Veri-Cal Pressure Transducer Tester from Utah Medical which might fit the bill.

It is basically a pressure/vaccumm gauge which has a large knob on the side winding this in or out adjusts the pressure.

Spec follows:-

Veri-Cal™ (650-900)
Operating Pressure Range ±300 mmHg, 1 mmHg resolution
±199.9 mmHg, 0.1 mmHg resolution
Operating Temperature 15° C to 40° C (60° F to 105° F)
Storage Temperature -20° C to 65° C (-5° F to 150° F)
Operating Humidity 80% RH Max., Non-Condensing
Accuracy ±1% of reading or ±1 mmHg, whichever is greater
Repeatability and Hysteresis ±0.15% full scale output
Overpressure 750 mmHg.

The Veri-Cal looks like a nice one. smile

Did you source it from within the UK? Any idea of the price?

And can the local supplier er, supply all the accessories (especially the various monitor cables), would you know?

BTW, this is only for a posh "boot-box" as we used to all them. This particular model (Tyco SCD Express) has a 3-point calibration but I thought it may be useful for testing occlusion pressure on some infusion pumps that require a positive line pressure.

We've had the Veri-cal for longer than I can remember; I think we were given it by one of the Pressure Transducer suppliers when we were looking to change.

As for testing infusion pumps with back pressure it would not be suitable for the Grasebys we have, we use a medical gas compressor that was going spare with two air regulators the first as a course control set to about 16 PSI allowing the other regulator a range of 0 to 15PSI with a reasonable level of control.

Any thoughts on this one, Dr.? smile

A source of hot air, perhaps?

Has anyone got any new thoughts about this topic? I'm still in need of a device with which I can simply "dial in" an air pressure ... and then hold it steady for long enough to be able to adjust pots (or whatever).

It would need to be able to generate up to 1.5 Bar (1,125 mmHg) though.

I am aware of the various Drucks ... but would prefer something a bit more ... er, cheaper.

In fact I'm thinking of knocking something up myself. Something based on an old syringe pump, or whatever. As we all know, syringes themselves are all very well, but holding 1,000 mmHg steady by hand takes a bit of doing. Especially when you are trying to twiddle a pot at the same time (a two-man job, perhaps). In short, there has to be a better way! smile
