OK, this is an out of hours topic (well it is out of hours in Wales anyway) - hope it goes in the out of hours section.
Any sporting biomeds out there care to comment on Terry 'Enry's 'assist' that led to the ball crossing the line against Ireland in last nights World Cup qualifying match. I can't bring myself to say the g... word, but the referee saw things differently. No comments please about his previous existence with the Gunners as that is irrelevant to this match.
My main feeling (amongst lots of others) is that the reputation of a truly great player has been irreparably tarnished by a moment of madness.
Any comments?

It will be remembered over here, especially in Ireland, for a long time. Do you remember Paolo Di Canio catching the ball instead of scoring when the goalkeeper was laying injured on the floor? Do you remember him scoring that fantastic volleyed goal for Wet Sham? Or do you remember him pushing over the referee? Unfortunately, we only seem to remember the bad things people do, not the good. It's a shame that all we will remember of Terry Henry is his assist.
And yes, I know how many times I typed the word remember.

Yes Google will correct your spelling as well !!! Thank goodness, someone needs to ! I see on the morning news here in Oz that the Irish FA are asking FIFA for the game to be replayed. Don't think they will but it is a measure of the annoyance I think.

Who said "cheats never prosper" I think Mr Henry would disagree.
Options available, 1 - Replay the game, never gonna happen. 2 - Award Eire the game, never gonna happen, 3 - make a stand against the cheat (remember Eduardo & Celtic), ban Henry for 4 games.
That way France have to decide if they want to take a player to the finals who can't play till the quarters (if they get that far)
I always admired Henry as a player and a man till last night. I think in his heart of hearts he knows how wrong it was
Personally if it was me I'd get both teams together in the same stadium, behind closed doors, and have a penalty shoot-out.
Why worry, Be happy!

I think the real issue here is why can't FIFA accept that video is a major part of the game and should be used to make important decisions. After all there are more cameras than officials at every game. Referees have to retire at 47 in the UK (45 elsewhere) why not re-employ older refs to sit behind a monitor and review the action, it doesn't matter if they need glasses to watch TV?

FIFA can't "accept that video is a major part of the game" at the moment because it would lead to the possibility of France not making the World Cup Finals.

PS how many of those Irish fans used to think that the "hand of God" was funny?
Don't forget "we've never had it so good".

Don't worry, all these "expressions of nationalistic sentiment" will shortly become a thing of the past, now that Herman is in charge. My dear old Mum always warned that "the quiet ones are the worst"!
