Hi

Which labels suppliers do people recomend for their equipment labels - do you print your own, buy them in a sequence or print just the number and put a cover over it?

Thanks

At the moment we are printing our own, I know that this does not help you as we are not in the UK. As there are different asset numbers for different departments I am hoping that we can start bar-coding early next year.

The methods are many and various.

If you're looking for a specialist supplier, you could try DGL. smile

We use Seton for our asset, tested and serviced labels.
For other labels we use a Brother laminated label maker.

Any recomendations on a portable printer that prints a barcode on one line and below it a readable number..whether dymo or brother etc. perhaps on 12mm tape or bigger

Thanks

Our Brother laminated label maker can do that however it is no longer available; i would imagine that Brother's latest versions would also be able to produce this sort of label.

Here's a nice site for labels.

Notice that they can do CE stickers as well (why not)!

Meanwhile, we have recently gone for a Brother P-Touch 2100 (which is available from RS). A nice bit of kit that uses the well-tried TZ tapes. Comes in a carrying case, runs off batteries or a mains adpator, and can be used either stand-alone or from PC software via a USB cable. It can do bar-codes, any number of fonts, lots of common symbols ... and all the rest. Recommended! smile
