Sounds like driving in the UK can be an adventure. Perhaps if you drove on the proper side of the road things might improve! ha,ha,ha, just kidding!

I believe there is a lot to be said for the maxim used by the old Land-Rover driving course. Namely:-

"As slow as possible - as fast as necessary"!

I also find no pleasure in driving. When cruising around I always stay within the law ... much to the annoyance, it would seem, of around 90% of other road "users".

I just let all the red-faced ragers zoom on by. Only, of course, to come up gently behind them at the next roundabout, lights, road works ... or whatever. frown

Right on Geoff
Life is too short! I was in London several years ago and was shocked at the traffic. Nearly got hit while trying to cross road twice.
My fault though. Coming from Canada I look left and then right before crossing a road and came very close to being flattened by one of those London cabs. Should have been looking right and then left.
I have driven in New York, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Miami and by far the scariest place was Montreal(crazy french drivers)

Rug, you need to go further than that to see some really scary driving. If people would leave 10 minutes earlier than planned, then just maybe they would not get so frustrated. Don't rush everywhere stop and and take time to look at the scenery around you.

Yes ... take the summer (which, I'm pleased to report, has just begun in England) one flower at a time!

Needless to say I have certain theories about people who operate (work, drive, live, drink etc., etc.) in a tearing rush:- total idiots who only cause tension for everyone else misfortunate enough to be around them. frown

Unfortunately, Britain seems to be full of such people. The trouble is that it appears to be almost impossible for such fools to break the habit.

Remember the tortoise and the hare? In my experience, the plodder at the back of the workshop is generally the chap who gets the real work done. In short, if you're properly organized you can be efficient without hurrying.

And (when it comes to working) here's another tip:- limit yourself to doing only a maximum of three jobs at a time (one job at a time is even better if you trying to achieve quality work)! Any more than that and mistakes are bound to happen ... even if it means mislaying the screws!

Parallel versus serial working? smile

Surely the problem with drivers the world over, but especially in the UK, is that it's every man for himself and sod the rest. It's been shown that a person, once cocooned in their piece of metal, has a total disregard for other road users and believes that they are always in the right.
Compare this to motorbike riders, who in the main are very courteous to each other.
