John Ashton & myself really enjoyed the EBME Seminar yesterday - many thanks from Colchester to all involved in making it happen we look foreward to next year.

As my brain has suffered due to advancing years & alcohol abuse will the presentation PowerPoints be available on the EBME website for recap?

Strange that no-one else has mentioned the quality toolkits that John "wheeled out"!

I'm using one at the moment (and haven't broken anything yet). In fact I especially like the dinky little pliers!

And although (as one of my colleagues kindly remarked only recently) it sometimes seems that I have cornered the world market for 1/4" hex bits - as most of us already know, you can never have too many!

Geoff, I thought the tool kit was as of the quality to be expected for a freebie, although I also like the pliers. I certainly wasn't disappointed with it!

And if you are "using ONE at the moment", how many kits did you get? Do you get a bonus kit for over one hundred posts in a month?

Anyway, it was a great meeting and very informative. Well done to John etc for organising it.

No ... I only got the one. Although it must be said that I had the honour of having it personally demonstrated to me by the great John Sandham himself!

Yes ... three points I picked up on (and would be happy to see debated further here on the forum):-

1) The implications of the 3rd Edition (2005) of IEC 60601-1 (ten times the leakage current, MOPS, MOOPS ... and all the rest).

2) The necessity of checking SpO2 probes for wavelength accuracy (be it using the Lightman ... or by some other means).

3) Exciting (steady on, now) new test equipment in the offing from Rigel (and, as I mentioned earlier, QADOS).

Regarding the "new" 60601-1 ... here is what I hope is a useful summary. Perhaps we need a new thread for this one?

MOPP: means of patient protection

MOOP: means of operator protection

"Enclosure leakage current" becomes "touch current" (as it has always been referred to in some quarters)

Allowable earth leakage current becomes 10 mA at SFC ... etc.

We did video and digitally record the event, but i have not had time to review the recording yet. It may take a couple of weeks.

Once i have tranferred them onto a CD - I will pass them on to our resident web monkey (That's Huw of course)

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the delegates, the speakers - for giving such interesting presentations, and the exhibitors - for contributing to the costs.

I do have copies of all the presentations, and will make them available.

I tried to speak to as many people as possible, but you know what its like at these events. I wish i could have spent more time chatting. Nice to see so many familiar faces.

Yes, I hope to get started on the podcasts as soon as I get the data. Unfortunately, I haven't received it yet as the whole seminar business proved to much for John and he had to take Friday off - poor luv...

A great event thank you...perhaps would have been nice to have a delegate list in our packs

That's a little tricky really, as the actual delegates attending may not be the same as the original registrants. (Many people drop out - others are sent in lieu of the original registrant etc.)

If we were to publish a list beforehand, it would probably be very inaccurate.
