Well done on the recent conference and i understand that my colleague has asked after the talk on Probe testing. What was used and has anyone got information on how to verify there is greater than 80% accuracy in any Spo2 probe ( any make). I am making a case for cost and performance change within the trust and need to verify what we get is cost effective. any ideas please

Interesting piece of Kit. We are looking to replace our SpO2 Analyser 3 at least on the Market Rigel, Fluke Index 2 and the Clinical Dynamics SmartSat. Question is which is flavour of the Month in EBME World and why?

We have one here

Upside yes it is good it will test any probe. It is portable.

Downside is you need a new connector box everytime GE changes their probe extensions.

We also have one of the old Bio Tek ones that produce a known Sats reading that can be then verifyed on the Equipment Under/On Test.

Just dreaming here, wouldn't be nice if the connectors for these devices was standardized????

We use the Lightman here also. Very good for checking your probe and it's accuracy, and the extension lead. But, as mentioned by bcarlisle, individual connector boxes are required for each make of probe.

Sadly a seperate tester/calibrated finger is required to function check your patient monitor/Sats monitor, but at least you will know the probe is working perfectly.
