Hi
Our nursing staff wish to add more equipment to their transport incubator. I believe that the CEN guidelines state a weight of 140kg for a transport device. Can anybody confirm if this figure is correct and is it a recommedation or any mandatory figure? Alternatively can somebody point me in the right direction.
thanks

Cannot give you figures but surely your ambulance Trust can.
Also be aware of modifying equipment in ambulances, I have known an Ambulance Trust wanting it to be crash tested to 10g before they would accept it.

My spelling is not bad. I am typing this on a Medigenic keyboard and I blame that for all my typos.

The Standard for Ambulances is BS EN 1789:2000
This gives all the recommendations for max. weight etc.

Maximum recommended load for a transpport incubator system with gas cylinders etc is 140kg.
The securing sytem should be able to support/secure the system to a load of 10g in 5 directions, left, right, forward, bacward & upwards.
All additional devices should be able to withstand the same applied forces.
Loading of the vehicle (including a full fuel tank) + staff must be factored into the equations. frown
