Can I ask the experienced amongst you, what are your feeling regarding the guidlines in DB2006(05)? Do they go far enough? Are they too demanding? What challenges have organisations faced in implementing the recommendations? and do you think modern developments have made the guidance obsolete in any way?
Hope you can help a newbie...

Cheers, Steve G smile

Typical MHRA sitting on the fence as far as I'm concerned, too much guidance without any substance. Instead of saying, for instance safety test all equipment once a year it will say equipment needs safety testing regularly. Could and would be more powerful if it was prescriptive but is more a paperweight for the desk

Welcome to the forum Steve. smile

In my opinion DB2006(05) is as good a working document as you're likely to get as "official guidance" in the UK.

But (as Neil hints at above):- policy without compulsion (enforcement?) is simply an exercise in wishful thinking!

Bottom line advice? Follow the document, then "report back" (up the food chain) if you find it lacking in any way.

But obsolete? I would have thought not. Good equipment management practice(s) don't change that much.

Well Steve, I would like to think that you have come to the right place.

There is not much that hasn't been touched on here over the years.

Time spent trawling through the old threads won't be wasted.

Then (by all means) come back and fire away with any questions you may come up with.

In no time at all you'll be worthy of an *MBA. smile

Definately not the start - end of the world and everything inbetween but as the building blocks of somewhere to start with regards a medical equipment policy or the likes a really good bit of information.

Hi Steve,

Just wondering, Steve G from Liverpool? Surely things aren't that bad at the football club that you have to retrain as a biomed? smilewink
